"Franchement" (meaning Frankly in French) is 100% Cabernet Franc from the Jack McGinley vineyard in Santa Ynez Valley. This sustainably farmed vineyard has a wide array of different grape varieties and Cabernet Franc specifically thrives here. The vines are East/Southeast facing and approximately 20 years old.
The style of this wine is reminiscent of Chinon Rouge from the Loire Valley in France, which is Cabernet Franc. This wine is medium bodied, with mostly red and blue fruit expression. Nice mineral tones and the ubiquitous green peppercorn aroma of Cabernet Franc are ion the background. The wine was aged in 500 liter neutral French Oak for 9 months.
The wine is very versatile in it's pairings and can range from grilled vegetables and fish to steak, pork or lamb. Softer, more salty cheeses are excellent with this wine and more sharp chocolates or dried fuits are great dessert pairings.
